Jimmy Carter Presidential Library
September 22, 2004

On the anniversary of the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, a speech at The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library was another highlight. And apparently, they liked it!

"Your talk at the Carter Presidential Library brought the drama and significance of Antietam alive for both the Civil Wars buffs in the audience and others less versed in the subject. We all learned more about the craft of the careful writer and the role of fiction in elucidating important historical events."

Jay Hakes
Director, Jimmy Carter Presidential Library

Antietam Signing

Ed Bearss is the Historian Emeritus

(Ted called my book "The Killer Angels of Antietam")

Old & New Friends...

To make a wonderful day BETTER...
Some old (and new) friends showed up!

Kathy Sheram
We've known each other
since we were 12!
And I don't get to see her NEARLY enough!

And a new friend:
Reenactor Mike Kreger

CO. A, 7th Maryland,
US
(Obviously)

"Stef T" Bradley
From my old Turner Sports Days!

She had her hands on her hips
a lot in THOSE days too!

The Launch
March 20, 2004

Braves announcers Skip Caray,
Pete Van Wieren & Ernie Johnson

...who I tormented for 10 years
of Atlanta Braves telecasts...
were all at the "launch event"
to wish me well (I think).

And then, of course,
I was embarrassed
(and thrilled)
by a room full
of family and friends.
